South Bay Pop-Ups LLC stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of Teresa Avendano, a Latina entrepreneur who founded the organization in 2019. With a deep commitment to her community and a desire to support her family, Teresa embarked on a mission to cultivate safe spaces for street vendors – including her own husband and children – and car enthusiasts to come together and enjoy vibrant shows.

From its inception, South Bay Pop-Ups has been driven by a spirit of empowerment and resilience. In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Teresa spearheaded the creation of pop-up markets in Wilmington and the South Bay Area, providing vital support to struggling local businesses. These endeavors initially took root in churches, serving congregations and vendors alike, before expanding into dynamic car shows.

Yet, amidst the joy of these events, Teresa encountered a sobering reality – the historic vilification of marginalized communities by authorities. Determined to challenge this narrative, she set out to create inclusive spaces where all are welcome and celebrated. Through her passion for car and viclas culture, Teresa united diverse communities, producing shows characterized by peace and family values.

In the ensuing years, South Bay Pop-Ups has emerged as a catalyst for growth and opportunity. By nurturing emerging and startup businesses, supporting local churches, and partnering with community centers and nonprofits, Teresa and her team have made a tangible impact on countless lives.

At its core, South Bay Pop-Ups embodies the transformative power of unity and collective action. Through their unwavering dedication to fostering connections and breaking down barriers, Teresa and her organization continue to pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
